The Sustaining Move

We Move Series
the sustaining move for a successful year
Femi Ojo | 30 January 2022
This week on the We Move series, we’ll be looking at The Sustaining Move which is basically all about the things you need to do to stay on track with your plans as you go for your goals in 2022. And we continue looking into the life of Nehemiah.
For the average person, starting a task, project or assignment is often easy, but seeing it through to finish or to a self-sustaining level can be very challenging. Whether it’s starting a business, a relationship, an academic program, a building construction or even a church. The experience is always the same.
It was no different for Nehemiah when he took on the difficult task of reconstructing the walls of Jerusalem. From the starting point to the halfway mark of execution, everything seemed to be going well until obstacles started to surface.
Here are the 4 oppositions that Nehemiah and his team faced:
- Opposition from naysayers and enemies. Nehemiah 4:1-3
- Opposition due to discouragement. Nehemiah 4:7-13
- Opposition as a result of Greed. Nehemiah 5:1-5
- Opposition as a result of an attempt on the life of the leader. Nehemiah 6:1-7
So, what did Nehemiah do to overcome these oppositions?
- He prayed to God about the opposition from naysayers. Nehemiah 4:4
- He encouraged the people. Nehemiah 4:14
- He reorganized their operational structure. Nehemiah 4:16-23
- He confronted the greedy people. Nehemiah 5:6-11
- He resisted the urge to fall into the trap set for him. Nehemiah 6:8-9
- He was sensitive to the Spirit. Nehemiah 6:12
