Money and I

One of the important relationships in life we need to cultivate is the one we have with money. It starts from when we are born and lasts all the way till we leave this world. It is an inescapable relationship for everyone that shapes every aspect of life.

More so, if you want to grow a money tree system in your life, such that you are able to enjoy God’s financial resources in every season of your life, you need to cultivate a relationship with money that aligns with God’s financial plan for you.

In the parable of talents, there are 5 vital lessons that teach us how to cultivate the right relationship with money.

5 Lessons on Cultivating the Right Relationship with Money

1. God is the owner and distributor of resources.

Matthew 25:14 NLT

Action Plan: Acknowledge God as the source of everything you have- money, assets, skills and gift. Trust only in God for everything you need.

2. You are a steward of God’s resources.

Matthew 25:15-16 NLT

Action Plan: Keep reminding yourself of your role as a steward of God’s money. As money comes into your hands, pray to God to give you instructions on how to use it.

3. Money is a helpful (and amoral) tool for achieving God’s plan for your life.

Matthew 25:15-25 NLT

Action Plan: Cultivate a lifestyle of not getting attached to money willingly utilizing it as God directs. Keep a pure heart towards money.

4. God gives you resources based on your abilities and season of life.

Matthew 25:15 NLT

Action Plan: Take stock of where your abilities are right now and how they translate to the money that you have. Ask God to increase your abilities to be able to generate more wealth in line with His assignment for your life.

5. God multiplies or reduces your resources based on how well you manage them.

Matthew 25:19-29 NLT

Action Plan: Ask God to increase your ability to manage and multiply the money He has given to you. Follow His leading to the right source(s) of knowledge and help.

Final Note: Growing a money tree system requires cultivating the right relationship with money. Understand that God is the owner and distributor of money and you are a steward. Money is an amoral tool given to us on the basis of our abilities to generate and manage wealth.

2 Things You Need to Overcome

1. Fear

2 Timothy 1:7 NLT

Action Plan: Understand that fear is part of man’s falling nature. Keep growing in maturity in your walk with God.

2. Weakness

2 Corinthians 12:9 NKJV

Action Plan: Identify your weakness(es) and intentionally [prayers, scriptures & Holy Spirit] seek God’s help in outgrowing them.

Final Note: True wealth is the product of a life with God in which you are making changes and adjustments as God instructs while overcoming fear and our weaknesses. You sustain this God-given wealth through discernment and maturity.
